Caller ID spoofing has damaged trust in business calling. STIR/SHAKEN is the framework used on IP voice networks to help providers authenticate caller ID information and pass verification data with a call.
What the framework does
An originating provider signs caller identity information. A terminating provider can verify that signature and use the result as one signal when displaying, analyzing or blocking calls. Authentication does not guarantee that every signed call is wanted, and it does not replace responsible calling practices.
Why businesses should care
- Use telephone numbers assigned to your organization.
- Keep business identity and calling information accurate.
- Monitor sudden changes in answer rates or spam labeling.
- Work with your provider before starting high-volume campaigns.
VortexVT helps customers plan legitimate calling workflows and understand how identity, reputation and configuration affect call completion.
